Oranjestad is 'n stad in Aruba.

Royal Plaza Mall

Oranjestad is in die 17de eeu gestig as 'n uitvoerhawe vir die perde wat in die land geteel word (Paardenbaai). Om die hawe te beveilig, is Fort Zoutman in 1796 deur die destydse eilandgoewerneur Lauffer gebou en met vier kanonne toegerus. Ongeveer 1820 woon die helfte van die bevolking in die onmiddellike omgewing van die fort, en eers in 1824 kry die plek sy huidige naam na die Nederlandse koningshuis Oranje. Oranjestad is nou die eiland se winkelsentrum en administratiewe sentrum. Die hoof winkelstraat, ook hoofstraat of Nassaustraat genoem, is Caya Betico Croes. Die voorstede word Madiki en Santa Helena in die noorde genoem, Setar en Seroe Blanco in die ooste, Tarabana en Dakota in die suide. 12.517862-70.0356651 Fort Zoutman. Gebou in 1796 onder leiding van die goewerneur Johan Rudolf Lauffer. Dit is toegerus met 4 kanonne. In 1799 word 'n aanval deur die Engelse hiervandaan afgestoot. Die plein Wilhelm III-toring is in 1868 as 'n vuurtoring toegevoeg, en dit was toegerus met die land se eerste openbare horlosie. Van 1816-1911 was die fort ook die setel van die regering. Die struktuur is in 1974 opgeknap, die toring van 1980 tot 1983. Die museum is 'n jaar later geopen. Dit is nou die oudste gebou op die eiland.
